Lucio Jesús Nùñez (Guitar)

Argentina

Lucio Nunez

Lucio Jesús Nùñez was born in San Miguel de Tucumán (Argentina). He started studying music at the age of eight and learned to play the guitar with his father. For several years he continued educating himself and took improvisation classes with Jorge Martínez Zárate. During this time he frequently stood out at concerts and contests.

The «Mozarteum Argentino» bursary then enabled him to study under renowned Spanish guitar player Narciso J. Yepes. He also studied several years with the Uruguayan composer and guitarist Abel Carlevaro, and Argentinian composers Angel Lasala and Leónidas Arnedo. He has taught in several conservatories in Buenos Aires as well as in the «Carlos López Buchardo» Argentine national conservatory. He currently teaches at the Universidad Autónoma de Entre Ríos.

In Paris, he recorded a mix of Latin-American, Spanish and Argentine pieces with Harmonia Mundi's Mandala label.

He has performed in different festivals throughout Europe: Stockholm, Sweden (1990 et 1993); Fribourg, Switzerland (1990 et 2001); Dramenand Oslo, Norway (1994); Malmö, Sweden (1997); Helsinki, Finland (1991); Tampere, Finland (1992); Aland, Finland (1997). In July 2007, he participated in the first «Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Guarda» in Portugal. He has also given master classes or been a jury member in many festivals. He is the honorary director of the Popoli music school (Italy).
