Eric Crausaz
Born in Fribourg (Switzerland) in 1965, Eric Crausaz discovered music at the age of 12 with the trombone andthe guitar. He taught himself piano, percussion and bass guitar.
In 1980, he entered the music academy of Fribourg in the classical guitar class. He obtained his teaching diploma in Joaquin Freire's class and his virtuosity diploma in Matthias Spaeter's class. He also improved his skill with the greatmasters David Russell and Alberto Ponce (from the music academy of Paris). He studied the double-bass and Jazz theory with Max Hediguer for two years. His interest in Jazz music led him to work with Marcel Papaux, Max Jendly, Matthieu Michel, Claude Schneider, Martin Descloux and Bertrand Cochard. He also took lessons in music theory with Henri Baeriswyl.
Furthermore, he is interested in choral art (with the «Ensemble vocal de Villars-sur-Glâne» and the Ensemble «De Musica»). At the moment, Eric Crausaz divides his activities between pedagogy (at the music academy ofFribourg and the HEP), concerts and composition.
He has already recorded several CDs.
Jean-Daniel Lugrin
Born in 1958 in Macconnens (Switzerland), Jean-Daniel Lugrin began his musical education by studying the flute with his father. At the age of ten he was registered in the music academy of Fribourg in the class of Georges Richinaz. He then studied with Claude Delley, Jean-Claude Desbiolles who prepared him for his teaching diploma, and Frederic Rapin who led him to virtuosity. He took orchestra lessons in Bienne and improved his skill with Walter Boeykens, Jacques Lancelot,Michel Lethiec and Robert Kemblinsky. He also took part in the «Fondation des Ateliers de Direction d'Orchestre» in Geneva led by Eric Bauer.
Regarding composition, he worked with Andor Kovac and Serge Lancen in Paris. His repertoire presents 70 pieces of music ranging from solo to orchestra; for instance Esperanza, Quai No 2, Quintet for clarinets, Mosaic for 4 saxophones, the music for the show «Fribourg in seven days», «Visions sonores» for clarinet, cello and piano, two masses for chorus and organ. At the moment, he is teaching clarinet at the music academy of Fribourg.
Regarding his discography, he recorded a CD dedicated to Brahms and Schumann with the pianist Guy Fasel. Two CDs are dedicated to his compositions: «l'Appel du Large» and «Stratosphères».
Christophe Herzog
Born in Lausanne in 1977, Christophe Herzog studied composition in Lucian Metianu's class at the Ribaupierre Institute (Lausanne) and got his composition diploma in 2003. During his training years, he participated in the «Ferien Kurse für neue Musik» in Darmstadt (Germany) in 2000 and 2002. He also participated in the masterclassesof the composers Cornel Taranu, Octavian Nemescu and Horatiu Radulescu and is still studying with them now.
'Ensembles' such as the «Luzerner Sinfonieorchester», the «Berner Sinfonieorchester», the Moscow quatuor and the duo Fluktuation played his compositions. In 2002, at the concourse organized for the 125th Berner Sinfonie orchester Anniversary, he won the Prize of the Jury for his 'Tragisymphonie Mythos' in front of a well-knowninternational jury.
Beside music, he is preparing a doctorate on Spanish literature about Metatheatre and tragedy in XXth century Spanish theatre (University of Lausanne).
