The trio started out when Guido Ottombrino, Alessandro Giancola and Massimiliano de Foglio got together in 1995. Their musical and personal sympathies rapidly lead to a great artistic harmony.
To this day, they have given 250 concerts in Italy, and later in Europe and Latin America, and were acclaimed by the public and the critics alike.
Cardoso, Carlo Crivelli and Giorgio Paris are some of the composers who have contributed to their repertoire.
The trio's first album, «Samba d'Ouro», was released in 1998. It features an original piece by guitarist Jorge Cardoso, who two years later offered them a concerto for three guitars and orchestra «Mbarakapu». Their second album, «Tanghie Unilonghe», came out in 2003.
Le Trio Cardoso has notably performed in Leon at the 9th Spanish Music Festival (1999), in Nerja, in Madrid at the 13th Andrès Segovia Festival (1999), at the Sonderho International Guitar Festival in Denmark (2000), in Linares, Segovia's native city at the 9th Andrès Segovia Festival (2000), at the 5th Festival Guitare du Monde in Alsace (2001), at the Buskerud Guitarfest in Norway (2002). That same year, they embarked on a major Argentinean tour.

JORGE CARDOSO is one of the great personalities who have contributed to the notoriety of the guitar. The teenage virtuoso who later became a prolific composer (over 300 guitar pieces) and an excellent teacher has nurtured the guitar with his energy and his exceptional professional activity for several decades.
As a performer, Cardoso has played all over the world, including such prestigious venues as the Carnegie Hall and the Wigmore Hall.
As a composer, he has focussed on exploring Argentina's huge popular music heritage, as well as folklore from the entire South American continent. He is also a great connoisseur of Baroque music, a field that he discovered with Javier Hinojosa.
Jorge Cardoso has displayed his pedagogical knowledge in his treatise «The Science and Method of Guitar Technique.» His work contains the fundamental elements of all instrumental methods, but also a medical approach to the muscular, motor, psychological and physiological systems.
The Fribourg Festival wanted to bring together the Trio Cardoso and the artist who inspired its name: we could offer our public no finer gift.
