Caroline Delume

Guitarist and theorboist Caroline Delume is fascinated by music from all periods, and her vast repertoire ranges from 17th century music to contemporary works. She studied in Alexandre Lagoya's class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where she was unanimously awarded the first prize for guitar in 1988, as well as two other first prizes in analysis and research analysis in Claude Ballif and Michaël Levinas' classes. She perfected her skills with guitarists Marie-Thérèse Ghirardi, Rafaël Andia and Magnus Andersson, and won the "Prix lannis Xenakis" at the Lucero festival in Paris in 1991. In 1992, she was awarded the "Stipendienpreis des Ferienkurses für Neue Musik" in Darmstadt.

Several pieces were written for her, such as Philippe Fénelon's Nocturnes for guitar, Félix lbarrondo's Concerto pour guitare et 11 instruments, as well as several pieces by Francisco Luque, José Manuel López, Frédérick Martin, Florentine Mulsant, Diógenes Rivas, and J.M. Sánchez-Verdú. She also composed guitar and theorbo work for Rodrigo Asturias, Pascale Criton, Arturo Fuentes, Suzanne Giraud, Klaus Huber, Brice Pauset, Gérard Pesson, Philippe Leroux, Laurent Martin, and Johannes Schöllhorn, amongst others.

She performs all over Europe, the United States and in Japan, and has been invited to play at the Archipel festival in Geneva, "Ars musica" in Brussels, "Agora" and "Festival d'Automne" in Paris, in Witten (Germany), and Alicante (Spain). She performs together with guitarists Didier Aschour, Wim Hoogewerf, and Pablo Marquez, with the string quartett Diotima, the guitar quartett Scordatura, the "Der blaue Reiter" ensemble, "Les Jeunes Solistes" (Rachid Safir), the Ensemble Fa (Dominique My), the "Concert Spirituel" (Hervé Niquet), the Recherche ensemble, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, and Musicatreize (Roland Hayrabedian).
