Moncef Genoud

Moncef Genoud began studying the piano at the age of six at the Institue for Blind People of Lausanne. His first jazz teachers were Achille Scotti and Henri Chaix. He also took classes in classical piano at the Geneva Conservatory.

At the age of twenty, he set up his own trio and started performing in small clubs. However, he rapidly broadened his scope through his ever-expanding musical contacts: Harold Hanko and Kurt Clitesy in the USA in 1986, Martial Solal in 1989, Tete Montoliu and Michel Petrucciani in 1993, Youssou N'Dour in 1995.

Moncef Genoud has supported a considerable number of soloists: Bob Berg, John Stubblefield, Robin Kenyatta, Kenny Davis, Dave Douglas, and James Zolar. He has notably performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Vancouver Festival, as well as in Detroit, Atlanta and New York.
